Nigeria Premier Football League side, Abia Warriors, have announced the passing of one of their staff members, Mr Augustine Eze Asiegbu, also known as O’Shanka.

The sad news was shared by the club on Thursday, 31st July 2025, through their official social media platforms.

According to the statement, Mr Asiegbu, who served as the club’s Store Keeper, died suddenly on Wednesday, 16th July 2025, at Madonna Hospital in Umuahia.

The late O’Shanka had a rich history in Nigerian football. He played for top clubs such as Spartans FC (now Heartland FC) and Bendel Insurance during his active years. He later served as the Secretary of the Abia State Football Association before joining Abia Warriors, where he worked faithfully until his passing.

The club expressed deep sorrow over his loss, saying, “Our hearts and thoughts are with the family of the deceased. May his soul rest in peace.”

Abia Warriors will be representing Nigeria in continental football for the first time this year.
