Manchester United might be willing to sell their captain Bruno Fernandes if they receive an offer of more than £100 million, according to reports.

Bruno Fernandes scored a 97th-minute penalty as Manchester United edged Burnley 3-2 in a tense Premier League match on Saturday.

Manager Ruben Amorim had called the game a “must-win” after United’s shock Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby in midweek. But despite the victory, the team again showed the same problems that have marked Amorim’s time in charge.

United twice went ahead, but Burnley fought back each time. Josh Cullen’s own goal gave United an early lead before Lyle Foster equalised. Moments later, Bryan Mbeumo restored the advantage with his first league goal for the club.

Burnley levelled again when Jaidon Anthony took advantage of poor defending, and the game looked set to end in a draw. But deep into stoppage time, VAR spotted a foul on Amad Diallo. Fernandes stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to seal United’s first win of the season.

Amad was named Player of the Match for his lively performance, while Mbeumo redeemed himself after missing the crucial penalty in midweek.

Amorim’s future remains uncertain despite the result, but United now head into the international break with some relief.
