G is the eighth most common starting letter, featuring in 115 Wordle answers. It’s often paired with an R to make GR— or an L to make GL—, but I’m not revealing whether that’s the case today.

• There are no repeated letters in today’s Wordle.
Repeated letters are quite common in the game, with 748 of the 2,309 Wordle answers containing one. However, it’s still more likely that a Wordle doesn’t have one.

Today’s Wordle answer (game #1532) is… GRAFT.
Haven’t we been here before? Why, yes we have – CRAFT was the answer to game #1045 and DRAFT was the solution to #1299. If you knew that, then you may have had an easier time of it today, but if you didn’t… well, then you may have struggled.
That’s probably why GRAFT has an average score right now of 4.1. It’s not super tough, but it’s hard enough to be causing some problems, and that multiple-answer-with-only-one-letter-changed aspect is most likely the cause.
I ended up with a four myself, but it could have been a three if I’d have checked a past answers list – because I played DRAFT on the third attempt. Admittedly, it wasn’t a straight choice between the two, because APART and QUART could also have been the solution at that stage.
Would I have played GRAFT if I’d have known that DRAFT was ruled out? I suspect I would have done, because APART contains a repeated letter and QUART has an uncommon Q. So yes, I would have scored a three if I’d checked. Let’s leave it at that.
Yesterday’s Wordle hints (game #1531)

S is the most common starting letter in the game, featuring in 365 of Wordle’s 2,309 answers. In fact, it’s almost twice as likely to begin an answer as the next most common starting letter, C.

Yesterday’s Wordle answer (game #1531) was… SPLIT.
This is one of those games where you’ll have wanted a start word that begins with an S and contains an L or T – or better yet both of them.
SLATE is one such word, and it left only five options. WordleBot, which currently begins with SLATE, duly scored a two – and by the looks of it, plenty of others will too, given that SPLIT has an average score of just 3.5.
I had to settle for a four, after my random opener MEATY left 166 possibles. SHUNT was a decent second guess and gave me the S and T at either end of the word.
That left me seven options, but annoyingly I only found four of them: SKIRT, SCOOT, SPORT and SWIFT. I missed SPLIT plus STILT and SPILT – and no, I really don’t know how I managed to do that.
That skewed my thinking for the next guess, and I went with SKIRT thinking it would guarantee me a four when in reality it could have left me a three-way choice.
Fortunately, luck was with me on this occasion and it narrowed down all of the answers including the ones I hadn’t thought of. I had to think for a minute about what the answer could be, then realized it was obvious – it had to be SPLIT. Not my finest hour.

What is Wordle?
If you’re on this page then you almost certainly know what Wordle is already, and indeed have probably been playing it for a while. And even if you’ve not been playing it, you must surely have heard of it by now, because it’s the viral word game phenomenon that took the world by storm in 2022 and is still going strong in 2025.
We’ve got a full guide to the game in our What is Wordle page, but if you just want a refresher then here are the basics.
What is Wordle?
Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word each day. You get six guesses, with each one revealing a little more information. If one of the letters in your guess is in the answer and in the right place, it turns green. If it’s in the answer but in the wrong place, it turns yellow. And if it’s not in the answer at all it turns gray. Simple, eh?
It’s played online via the Wordle website or the New York Times’ Games app (iOS / Android), and is entirely free.
Crucially, the answer is the same for everyone each day, meaning that you’re competing against the rest of the world, rather than just against yourself or the game. The puzzle then resets each day at midnight in your local time, giving you a new challenge, and the chance to extend your streak.
What are the Wordle rules?
The rules of Wordle are pretty straightforward, but with a couple of curveballs thrown in for good measure.
1. Letters that are in the answer and in the right place turn green.
2. Letters that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow.
3. Letters that are not in the answer turn gray.
4. Answers are never plural.
5. Letters can appear more than once. So if your guess includes two of one letter, they may both turn yellow, both turn green, or one could be yellow and the other green.
6. Each guess must be a valid word in Wordle’s dictionary. You can’t guess ABCDE, for instance.
7. You do not have to include correct letters in subsequent guesses unless you play on Hard mode.
8. You have six guesses to solve the Wordle.
9. You must complete the daily Wordle before midnight in your timezone.
10. All answers are drawn from Wordle’s list of 2,309 solutions. However…
11. Wordle will accept a wider pool of words as guesses – some 10,000 of them. For instance, you can guess a plural such as WORDS. It definitely won’t be right (see point 4 above), but Wordle will accept it as a guess.
12. The NYT has added in some of its own words, that weren’t in that list of 2,309 solutions. More will undoubtedly come over the next few years.
