Google has officially rolled out its new AI Mode in Pakistan, offering users a more intelligent, multimodal search experience powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5. The feature is now live in English across mobile and desktop platforms in Pakistan.
AI Mode enhances traditional Google Search by allowing users to pose complex, multi-layered questions and receive comprehensive, real-time responses. Instead of returning just a list of links, the new system processes and answers several sub-queries simultaneously, perfect for planning trips, understanding tutorials, or comparing products.
According to Google, queries tested through AI Mode tend to be 2 to 3 times longer than usual searches. For example, a user can even ask Pakistan-oriented questions, such as, “I’m planning a trip to Hunza in October. Suggest a 5-day itinerary that balances sightseeing, adventure, and local food experiences.” AI Mode can handle such tasks with in-depth suggestions and follow-up options.
Here is what it looks like.
Pakistani Use Cases
In Pakistan, the tool is expected to be especially useful for students, parents, shoppers, and travelers. Users can now ask questions like:
- “Can you recommend free online resources in Pakistan to help with grade 9 algebra?”
- “What are these spices I found in Karachi’s Empress Market, and how can I use them in cooking?”
AI Mode supports text, voice, and image input, integrating Google Lens to recognize and analyze photos, allowing for seamless and intuitive queries in everyday scenarios.
How it Works
Behind the scenes, Google’s AI Mode employs a “query fan-out” method, breaking down a user’s input into smaller components and searching each separately. It uses live information from the Knowledge Graph, product databases, and web content to deliver accurate answers with citations. If confidence is low in a response, the system defaults to classic search results.
AI Mode is now available in Pakistan through the Google App on Android and iOS, as well as on the mobile and desktop versions of Google Search.
While this version is text-based, future updates may include Urdu language support and more regional integrations to further personalize the experience.
