Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has reached a big career milestone, taking charge of his 100th game for the club on the opening weekend of the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The 45-year-old reached the landmark in Friday’s 1-1 draw against Rivers United at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

Former Flying Eagles striker Aniekeme Okon put Rivers United ahead before Super Eagles forward Victor Mbaoma equalised for Remo Stars.

Ogunmodede’s record now stands at 100 matches, with 53 wins, 20 draws and 27 defeats.

The achievement came just a day after he returned from Tanzania, where he worked as assistant coach to Eric Chelle with Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles at the African Nations Championship (CHAN). Nigeria went out in the group stage despite beating Congo 2-0 in their final match.

Since becoming Remo Stars’ head coach in 2022, Ogunmodede has played a key role in the club’s progress. Last season, he guided the Ikenne-based side to their first-ever NPFL title, ending the South-West’s 25-year wait for a league champion since Julius Berger won in 2000. That success followed back-to-back second-place finishes in 2023 and 2024.

Ogunmodede first joined Remo Stars in 2015 as assistant to Nduka Ugbade before moving on to lead the youth setup, now known as Beyond Limits Football Academy. His first spell as senior coach began in 2020, when he led the club back to the NPFL before spending a short period in Portugal with CD Feirense.

Now a centurion with Remo Stars, Ogunmodede’s focus is on building on last season’s title win while also handling his duties with the Super Eagles ahead of World Cup qualifiers in September.
