Everton are preparing a €30 million offer for Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche after losing their opening Premier League match of the season.

The 22-year-old has been in superb form for Getafe, where he has quickly become one of their standout players. Uche joined from Spanish third-tier side Ceuta last summer and impressed in his debut La Liga campaign, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 matches.

He has started this season strongly as well, scoring and assisting in Getafe’s 2-0 win over Celta Vigo last weekend. His performances have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Leeds United and Brentford also linked earlier.

According to One Football, Everton are now ready to move ahead of the competition with a €30 million bid. Uche’s current release clause is €25 million, and his market value has risen sharply in the past year, from just over €500,000 to €15 million.

Getafe may be tempted to accept the offer, as it would provide a big financial boost to help them meet La Liga’s strict financial rules. However, losing Uche would be a huge blow, as he has become central to their play.

The midfielder made his Super Eagles debut in May at the Unity Cup and has already earned two caps for Nigeria.

With just ten days left in the transfer window, Everton will hope to complete the deal quickly to strengthen their squad.
