Tennis legend Serena Williams has taken on a new role as the face of telehealth firm Ro’s GLP-1 weight-loss treatments. The 23-time Grand Slam champion also opened up about her own journey with these medications. She revealed that after childbirth, she lost 31 pounds with the help of GLP-1s, including Eli Lilly’s Zepbound and Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy.

In interviews with Journalists, Williams said the treatment was “the medicine my body needed.” She made it clear that these drugs are not shortcuts. For her, they offered essential support when diet and exercise were not enough. She hopes her story will break the stigma around weight-loss medication and inspire more honest conversations about health, body image, and motherhood.

The campaign will run nationwide, featuring Williams in both digital ads and billboards. Ro’s CEO, Zach Reitano,  believes her story challenges stereotypes and shows that GLP-1 treatments can help many different people reach their health goals.

There is also a personal connection. Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, is an investor in Ro and sits on its board. This makes the partnership feel both authentic and strategic.
