The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Tuesday that mobile phone operators are providing free on-net voice calls to subscribers in flood-affected areas. This step is part of a broader relief initiative aimed at maintaining communication during ongoing disruptions caused by severe flooding.
According to the PTA, the arrangement ensures that telecom users can make same-network calls even with zero mobile balance. The objective is to help people in flood-hit regions stay in contact with family members and emergency services despite damaged infrastructure and financial constraints.
The PTA confirmed that more than 72% of the affected telecom sites have been restored, with continued efforts to bring the remaining sites back online. The authority stated that it will monitor the situation closely and keep the public informed as further progress is made.
PTA reiterated its commitment to working with mobile operators during this period. It emphasized that it will continue to oversee service delivery in the impacted areas and will release timely updates to ensure transparency and public awareness.
