Akwa United have confirmed the appointment of Paul Offor as their new Head Coach, SportsRation reports.
The former Sporting Lagos manager, who guided the Lagos club to promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the 2023/24 season, has already resumed duties in Uyo. He is currently overseeing the Promise Keepers’ pre-season training ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Offor, who earned his UEFA B coaching licence in July, recently resigned from Nationwide League One side Grassrunners FC. He was also briefly appointed as head coach of Kano Pillars earlier this year before the decision was reversed.
Tasked with returning Akwa United to the NPFL after last season’s relegation, Offor will work with assistants Tosin Adekugbe, Okechukwu Promise, Bassey Akpan and Akarandut Orok.
In a related development, the state government has reconstituted the club’s management. Mr Joseph Eno, an Accounting graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is the new chairman of Akwa United.
Eno retired from Total Energies after 20 years of service as a Contract and Procurement Manager. A lifelong football enthusiast, he has led several school, university and corporate teams and remains active in grassroots football development in Akwa Ibom.
He will be supported by Pastor Ini Edoho (Vice Chairman), Mr Jimmy Joshua (General Manager) and Elder Omon Bassey (Secretary). Other appointees include Mr Festus Akpan (Team Manager), Mr Mfon Patrick (Media Manager) and his assistant, Mr NsikakAbasi Akpan.
