Evil cellar rape monster Josef Fritzl has spoken from inside his jail cell of his desire to be freed and walk through the Austrian countryside once again. He revealed his dream as his legal team press for him to be allowed out of prison, despite his conviction for such appalling crimes.

Now as the formal proceedings continue, Fritzl said: “I just want to be free again. I’ve sat here long enough and I don’t want so many problems anymore.” After a meeting with his lawyer Astrid Wagner inside prison last week, she spoke exclusively to the Mirror about their conversation.

Wagner also revealed that Fritzl told her: “I do want to be in nature once more, to be outside. I do want to be free. That’s why I want to go on this social training course, so I get these day release trips.”

Fritzl was convicted in March 2009 of murder by neglect, enslavement, unlawful imprisonment, rape, incest and coercion after keeping his daughter Elisabeth in a cellar for 24 years.

Wagner has now launched two applications to get the 90-year-old freed. She wants him to allowed his freedom full time. But last week the Mirror also revealed how she is trying to get him out on a special day release programme.

Wagner said: “He’d really like to get some fresh air, and to listen to the birds chirping. So he would most likely go out for coffee and I would go with him. And I do think eating ice cream, eating ice cream in the summer, and drinking coffee in the winter are things he would like to do very much at a café.

“He’s a foodie, you see, and he has a sweet tooth, so he would also like to have vanilla ice cream and vanilla sauce and things like that. He really loves sweet things.

“So he still enjoys the idea of hiking and likes the idea of going off up into the mountains.” Wagner, who has written a book called “The Abyss of Josef F”, has just started a True Crimes podcast which features some of the most difficult and shocking crimes including Fritzl’s. She added: “And he is happy to work because he believes he has such incredibly great technical knowledge.

“But in terms of what he would like to do when out – that’s totally up to the authorities as a rule. But it tends to be more like going to a café and going for a walk, or a day trip to a city like Vienna. There aren’t really any other options.”

Wagner said: “He’s not afraid, because his problem is actually suffering from a distortion of reality, which means he still believes that most people like him, and that they are happy.”

“He already has said he thinks Trump is sending him signals through the TV that he is pleased with him, and that he wants him there to help manage negotiations with Putin. My client really believes that everyone is happy with things now – he really believes that everyone is happy with him and that everything is ok.”
