President Donald Trump will meet Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Aug. 18 at the White House to discuss a possible end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Trump met with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15 in Alaska to discuss ending the war, but afterward, both world leaders were tight-lipped about the details in public remarks. After speaking with Zelenskyy and other European leaders, Trump announced Aug. 16 he is backing a peace plan that includes Ukraine ceding territory it controls to Russia as well as U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine to deter future Russian attacks.
