PSG are close to signing Nigerian forward Rasheedat Ajibade, in what could be one of the biggest moves of the women’s transfer window.

The Super Falcons captain has been without a club since leaving Atlético Madrid in June. Reports from France say a deal with PSG has been agreed, with only final paperwork remaining.

If the move goes through, Ajibade, 24, will become the second Nigerian in the PSG women’s team, joining Jennifer Echegini. Known for her pace and hard work, the winger had interest from clubs in the United States’ NWSL, but PSG appear to have secured her signature.

Ajibade enjoyed a brilliant summer, leading Nigeria to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco. She provided two assists, scored one goal, and won three Player of the Match awards. She was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament.

Since starting her career at FC Robo in Lagos, Ajibade has enjoyed a steady rise. She joined Atlético Madrid in 2021, making 137 appearances, scoring 41 goals, and winning the Copa de la Reina, Supercopa Femenina, and Trofeo Ramón de Carranza.

Her signing would be a major boost for PSG head coach Paulo César, who is aiming to improve the team after a difficult season. With her experience and leadership, Ajibade is expected to add more attacking strength to a squad determined to win titles at home and in Europe.

PSG have won the French league only once, in 2021, and are eager to overtake defending champions Olympique Lyonnais, who have lifted the trophy 18 times.
