Ashley Pifer has spent her career ensuring water quality for the communities in which she’s worked.
A Fayetteville native, Pifer specializes in disinfection and distribution system water quality and has years of experience conducting research, treatment process feasibility studies, water quality assessments, and designs for water and wastewater utilities nationwide.
She’s overseen lead and copper rule revisions and improvements, guiding water systems through all aspects of compliance to reduce lead exposure in drinking water. She’s also helped water systems develop service line inventories and compliance strategies as the rule revisions and improvements are introduced.
Pifer joined Halff in January to help build its water and wastewater treatment practice, aiming to grow the brand across its footprint and beyond.
“The people here are just very generous in spirit, and they’re always looking to help each other,” she said. “They’re looking to produce quality work that helps our clients.”
Recently, she’s been working on a corrosion control project, helping an Arizona water utility address some corrosion issues.
Before joining Halff, Pifer worked at Garver. She started there after earning a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas in 2012.
At Garver, she worked on drinking water projects across the southern United States. She led a team of drinking water and wastewater professionals as water technology team manager, a role she was named to in April 2024.
Pifer is active in the American Water Works Association (AWWA), serving as trustee for the water science and research division. She’s written for AWWA publication “Opflow” and peer-reviewed journals and served as an instructor in the UA civil engineering department. She enjoys birdwatching, hiking and weightlifting.
