Margaret Thompson, 94, of Fort Smith died Friday, August 8, 2025.
Margaret was born June 29, 1931 in Danville, Illinois to the late Alonzo and Claire Roberson. She worked for the National Cash Register Company in Danville. Margaret met George Thompson at Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. They married in Malvern, Arkansas and were married 49 years prior to his death. Margaret was a Homemaker and Caregiver for most of her adult life. In addition she worked outside the home at Melvin Robert’s Auto and as Manager for the Goodwill Store.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Thompson; her son James Thompson; and grandson John Hayes.
Those left behind to cherish Margaret’s memory are her children; a daughter Mitty Baker (Sam) of Fort Smith; a son Stephen Thompson (Dana) of Cabot; a son David Thompson (Regina) of Fort Smith. She is also survived by three Grandsons; Steven Singleton (Carrie) of Amarillo, TX, Zachary Singleton (Brittany) of Pocahontas, AR and Brach Thompson (Elizabeth) of Haskell, AR; two Granddaughters Allison Strasser (Chris) of Fort Smith, and Tatum Thompson of Fort Smith; and 3 great-grandchildren Jace Singleton of Amarillo, Sarah Singleton of Amarillo and Sterling Strasser of Fort Smith.
Visitation will be Monday, August 11, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N. 12th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901. Services will be Tuesday, August 12, 2025, 10:00 AM at West Ark Church of Christ, 900 N Waldron St. Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Pallbearers are David Thompson, Tatum Thompson, Brach Thompson, Zachary Singleton, Chris Strasser, and David Burns. Honorary pallbearers are Wilburn Howard and John Lankford.
