Jahanzeb Khan, President & CEO of easypaisa digital bank, emphasized the importance of customer trust, robust security, and innovation-driven product design during his participation at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit in Islamabad on Thursday.
Speaking at a fireside chat titled “From Cybersecurity to Digital Payments – Ensuring Trust in a Cashless Future,” Jahanzeb highlighted the vital role digital financial platforms play in driving the country’s financial inclusion agenda.
“easypaisa is proud to lead Pakistan’s journey towards a cashless, digitally inclusive economy. We believe in striking the right balance between customer convenience and security. We will continue to work with stakeholders and policymakers to enable a thriving digital economy,” said Jahanzeb, adding that the onus is on platforms like easypaisa to make trust and safety visible to users while reinforcing them through intelligent backend safeguards.
Advocating the Government’s and State Bank of Pakistan’s Cashless Economy initiative, Jahanzeb called for a more interoperable, secure, and inclusive financial ecosystem in partnership with all that empowers and engages every Pakistani to participate in the formal digital economy.
While highlighting easypaisa’s adoption of a “Privacy by Design” framework, which integrates data protection principles at every stage of product development, Jahanzeb underscored the importance of providing secure and scalable solutions for our customers, making onboarding easier, expanding access for unbanked communities, and thereby advancing financial inclusion.
The GSMA Digital Nation Summit in Islamabad convened senior representatives from the Government of Pakistan, mobile operators, digital innovators, climate and finance experts, and international partners to advance collaboration for a thriving, secure, and inclusive digital Pakistan.
With a customer base representing 1 in every 5 Pakistani adults, a 31% female user base, and over 2.7 billion transactions processed in 2024, worth PKR 9.5 trillion, approximately 9% of Pakistan’s GDP, easypaisa continues to set new benchmarks for digital banking and financial empowerment across Pakistan.
