Kazeem Olaigbe, a Belgian-Nigerian winger, has arrived in Turkey to complete his move from French club Rennes to Turkish top side Trabzonspor.

The 22-year-old was welcomed by excited fans at Trabzon Airport. He will have medical tests before signing a long-term contract with the club.

Olaigbe will join a growing number of Nigerian players in Turkey, including Paul Onuachu, Anthony Nwakaeme, Henry Onyekuru, and Victor Osimhen.

Known for his speed and skill on both wings, Olaigbe is expected to bring energy and competition to Trabzonspor’s attack. While he mostly plays on the left wing, he can also play on the right or behind the main striker.

Born in Brussels in 2003, Olaigbe trained at Anderlecht’s academy before joining Southampton in 2019. He later played on loan for Ross County in Scotland and Harrogate Town in England before moving to Cercle Brugge in Belgium.

In early 2025, he joined Rennes but only made ten appearances, providing two assists. With limited playing time and a contract that runs until 2029, Olaigbe has decided to look for more chances elsewhere.

He scored eight goals and gave three assists across all competitions for Cercle Brugge and Rennes last season.

Olaigbe has played for Belgium at youth levels but can still switch to play for Nigeria. Reports say Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is keeping an eye on him as he looks for more options to challenge Samuel Chukwueze on the right wing.

Olaigbe’s market value is around €5.2 million, but the transfer fee for his move to Trabzonspor has not been made public.

He is expected to sign for the Turkish club once his medical is complete.
