Bayelsa Queens continued their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six after beating Remo Stars Ladies 2-0 on Tuesday.

The 2025 Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has officially confirmed the start date for the new season, setting the tone for another thrilling chapter in women’s football across the country.

According to the calendar unveiled during the meeting, the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership season will begin on November 26, 2025, and end on April 22, 2026.

Before the short Christmas break, clubs will play four match weeks, with league action resuming on January 7, 2026, as teams continue their pursuit of glory in Nigeria’s top-tier women’s football competition.

A total of 20 clubs will feature in the upcoming season. In line with the league’s structure, six teams will be relegated at the end of the campaign, while two clubs will gain promotion from the NWFL Championship to the Premiership. Additionally, two teams will drop from the Championship to the NWFL Nationwide League.

The NWFL AGA also discussed new development strategies to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria ahead of the new campaign.
