Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is on the verge of leaving England after Besiktas agreed a €9.5 million deal with Leicester City for his transfer.
Ndidi, 28, has signed a three-year contract with the Turkish giants, with the option of a fourth year, and is expected to complete his medical in Istanbul on Thursday.
Despite interest from other European clubs, including Everton, Valencia, and Real Betis, Ndidi has chosen to join Besiktas, where former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently in charge.
Ndidi joined Leicester City in 2017 and played a key role for the club during his time in England, helping them win the FA Cup in 2021. Last season, he made 30 appearances, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
His arrival is seen as a major boost for Besiktas, who are hoping to strengthen their midfield after finishing fourth in the Turkish Super Lig last season.
Solskjaer, who took over at Besiktas in January 2025, is under pressure following a poor start to the season, including a 4-2 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League qualifiers. However, the signing of Ndidi is expected to bring experience and stability to the team.
Besiktas are also looking to sign more players before the transfer window closes, with reported interest in Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey.
Ndidi’s move brings an end to his eight-year stay in England and marks a new chapter in his career as he begins life in the Turkish Super Lig.
