Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi opened his goal account for Besiktas as the Turkish giants claimed a 2–0 victory over Konyaspor on Wednesday night.

Ndidi, who kept his place in the starting lineup, put in a commanding performance at the Konya Buyuksehir Belediye Stadium. The home side began brightly and created several chances, but it was Besiktas who took the lead in the 21st minute.

The Nigerian midfielder rose highest to meet a corner kick and powered a header past the goalkeeper from close range to make it 1–0. According to Opta Can, the goal was Ndidi’s first header for a club since August 2019, when he scored for Leicester City against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Konyaspor pushed hard for an equaliser after going behind, but Besiktas stood firm and carried their lead into the break.

In the second half, the hosts continued to dominate possession, yet the Black Eagles remained solid defensively. Their patience paid off in the 72nd minute when Tammy Abraham pounced on a loose ball to double Besiktas’ advantage.

Ndidi was one of the standout performers for Besiktas, recording 39 touches, winning all four of his duels, and contributing four clearances, one interception, and two tackles.

The win lifts Besiktas to sixth place in the Turkish Super Lig table, with 16 points from nine matches.
