Honor has confirmed that its upcoming Robot Phone will be officially unveiled at Mobile[1] World Congress (MWC) 2026 in March. First teased during the Magic8 series launch event, the futuristic device is now back in the spotlight with a teaser posted to the company’s official Instagram account.

Although Honor has not specified whether the event will include a commercial release or just a global showcase, the company has clearly stated that the Robot Phone will be fully unveiled during the tech exhibition in Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether the launch will also include pricing and market availability announcements.

Robotic Camera Head

The Robot Phone stands out for its movable gimbal-mounted camera, which physically extends from the rear of the device and resembles a robotic head. This isn’t just for aesthetics as the camera system is expected to feature advanced AI capabilities, allowing it to analyze visual input in real-time, track subjects more accurately, and potentially even interpret scenes much like a robot or assistant would.

According to earlier hints from Honor, the camera may have object recognition, autonomous framing, and context-aware features for photography, video, and augmented reality applications. This could make it the first mainstream smartphone to merge AI perception and robotics in a functional, interactive way.

Here is what the camera looks like in action, at least in early computer-generated footage.

Honor’s push into robotic and AI-integrated hardware follows the industry’s growing trend toward smarter, camera-centric designs. With brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Huawei[2] already incorporating AI photography tools, Honor seems to be taking things a step further by physically enhancing the device’s mobility and intelligence.

The Robot Phone is expected to ship with Honor’s latest software platform, possibly a modified version of MagicOS, optimized for AI-powered interaction. Details about the chipset, battery, and overall hardware design remain under wraps, but more information is expected in the weeks leading up to MWC.
