The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has rolled out a biometric attendance system to tackle exam fraud and ensure transparency during board examinations.

The system, designed to curb impersonation and other forms of cheating, was first tested during the matriculation second annual exams at the Lawrence Road Examination Centre. More than 200 students were successfully verified through biometric scanning during the pilot phase, marking a significant step toward a more transparent evaluation process.

Following its successful trial, BISE Lahore announced that the biometric attendance system will now be implemented for the Intermediate Second Annual Examinations. Over 35,000 candidates will have their attendance verified through biometric scans before taking their exams.

Strict Action Against Impersonation and Identity Fraud

The board has issued a strict warning against any attempts at impersonation or identity fraud, stating that offenders will face a permanent examination ban and possible legal action.

Incidents of cheating and fake identities have long undermined the credibility of board exams across Punjab. Officials believe that biometric verification will serve as a reliable safeguard against such practices, restoring public trust in the examination system.

According to BISE Lahore representatives, the biometric attendance system reflects the board’s commitment to adopting technology-driven solutions to uphold merit, fairness, and integrity in Pakistan’s education sector.
