The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has signed a landmark MoU with the Financial Accounting and Budgeting System (FABS), under the Office of the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), to launch the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This initiative aims to digitize financial operations, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency.
For years, public institutions have faced criticism for delays, manual errors, and lack of transparency in financial transactions. By adopting SAP ERPa globally recognized system—RDA takes a significant step toward modern governance and accountability.
According to the agreement, all budgeting, payments, and financial transactions of RDA will now be managed digitally. The system will automate payment processes, strengthen internal controls, minimize manual handling, and provide real-time financial reporting to support better decision-making.
DG Kinza Murtaza praised the collaboration, terming the MoU a milestone in RDA’s digital transformation. She stated that the move reflects both RDA’s and the Government of Pakistan’s vision for e-governance, transparency, and financial reforms.
The introduction of SAP ERP in RDA is expected to redefine financial management in Rawalpindi. As processes shift toward digitalization, the question arises: Will this initiative become a model for other development authorities across Pakistan?
